MANILA, Philippines — Jason Momoa, who played Khal Drogo in hit HBO series “Game of Thrones,” caused a social media uproar on Thursday for an alleged “rape joke.”
Momoa was under fire in Twitter after a video footage of him resurfaces. The clip was taken at the 2011 Comic Con, an annual comics conference in California.
In the video, Momoa is shown as saying, “But as far as sci-fi and fantasy, I love that genre. There’s so many things you can do, like rip someone’s tongue out of their throat and get away with it…rape a beautiful woman, you know?”

The actor has since apologized, saying in an Instagram statement: “I awoke in Australia to the justified reactions by many people to a distasteful joke I made years ago in Hall H for which I am sorry. I am still severely disappointed in myself at the insensitivity of my remarks that day. I know my sincerest apology won’t take away those hurtful words. Rape and sexual harassment can reach anyone and I have seen first-hand its painful torment among members of my own family and friends.”

The “rape joke” video came following accusations of sexual assault and rape versus Hollywood film mogul Harvey Weinstein by Hollywood A-list actresses like Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow and Cara Delevigne.
On Friday, a day after Momoa’s video went viral, Warner Bros. released a featurette showing Momoa as half man, half Atlantean Aquaman in “Justice League.”
Find out more about the rightful King of Atlantis in the new Justice League featurette titled “Arthur Curry aka Aquaman,” which has just been launched by Warner Bros.

Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
“Justice League” features Batman/Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman/Diana Prince (Gal Gadot), Flash/Barry Allen (Ezra Miller), Cyborg/Victor Stone (Ray Fisher), and Aquaman/Arthur Curry (Momoa).
